  • Christmas was awesome... Beau was home, Ashlee was home... got my shopping done... or at least done enough.  We had fun, ate too much, watched a few movies... it was fantastic... better than I had hoped.

We are in Florida... doing a work project down here... Beau is on his way back to Ft. Irwin today.  We are working at a place in Ft. Myers, FL called Echo.  You can read about it here... pretty cool.

I spent the day with a rake in my hands... i'm tired and hungry... but clean... just got a shower... after being filthy dirty all day a shower feels real good hahahahaha!!!

My Garage these days... The "black" special edition in the right of the picture is going to be restored and then raffled for a charity.  The benefit dinner I was going to (see pic below) is for a local orphanage... and my plan is to restore this car and then show it all next year... and raffle it to benefit the orphanage...

  • Just got back from a weekend trip... spent a couple days in Florida with my sister... she lives in Texas, I live in Michigan, our brother lives in Florida... my inlaws have a condo in Vero Beach so we decided to meet up there and have a long weekend together... here's a summary and some pix... enjoy ;)

Arrived Friday noon... Adrian was waiting at the gate... rented the mustang... drove to daytona to see our bro... spent about an hour with him... toured his facility there... drove 2+ hours down to Vero Beach. Opened up the Condo... turned on water, water heater, open hurricane shutters, unpack, have a glass or 2 of wine while walking on the beach saying hello to the ocean. Showered... went out to eat at a little place on the ocean that had live music (steel drums)... I had excellent fish tacos... adrian had a cheeseburger... then it was off to a bar called the pour house... live rock music... regular crowd ... everyone knows each other so we stood out like a sore thumb hahahahaha... but the band was awesome and it was a good time... we met a couple people and adrian got some pix that nite... which i hope to aquire later. Saturday we got up... said hello to the ocean with a cup of coffee and a walk on the beach... then showered... david and sheryl showed up with the kids at about 11... we had lunch on site and watched the kids in the pool until about 2... then up to the condo to cool off... work puzzles... kids played some board games and general chat. Sheryl left to get a haircut about 5 and we followed at around 6... and met her for dinner (showers in between). Said goodbye to dave, sheryl and kids then adrian and i went out to find another bar... after a couple duds we found a country bar that was HOPPIN... we ended up dancing for 3 hours with a guy named "goober"... a 6 foot 260 pound teddy bear that moves like you would not believe... he freakin wore us out... they're iron workers from North Carolina... good ole' boys stuck there for 3 months away from home and family workin... his buddies were "Chubby" and "Magic Man"... although "Magic Man" was very very quiet... hahahahha... Goober pretty much kept Adrian and i busy with all kinds of moves... most of the time he'd dance with both of us... it was a riot. Adrian woke up Sunday morning and could hardly walk and it was right then i thanked God for working out... hahahahhahaha... we hardly ate all weekend... didn't want to waste the time going to the store... i had brought apples... so we ate an apple for bfast and coffee... and then ate lunches/dinners later in the day... we didn't care... we had so much fun. Sunday was beach day... we laid on the beach all afternoon... and it was wonderful... then showered and went for a quiet dinner with some wine and laughs... back to the condo... and grabbed the leftover wine in the fridge... some plastic cups and went over to the other side of the condo complex that sits on the intercoastal waterway... we sat there... talked, drank and watched the sun go down. Monday morning, walked the beach... cleaned up the condo... washed sheets etc... closed it back up... said goodbye to the ocean and then went food hunting... went to a place that our family has gone to for years at a marina on the intercoastal... had an amazing grilled mahi mahi sandwich and watched dolphins play in the marina... wonderful wonderful lunch...

all in all... a fabulous time... hated to see it end.

  • My Grandma died back in March... anyone who has been through the process of cleaning out 87 years of junk, collectable stuff and momento's knows it is a long and tedious process.  One of the things that I found most difficult is to get rid of the little things like my grandma's bowling patches.  Fortunately for me... I have a great gameroom area that has alot of dead wall space.  Unfortunately for my husbands family my basement is going to end up being a little mini shrine of momentos that belonged to my grandparents... some pretty cool stuff though... things like their wooden sleds, a handcarved sailboat, my grandpa's 2 man saw from when he was in the CCC's (civil conservation corps), some old Navy photos of his ship etc, etc... I don't want to get rid of them because they're personal, but they also make neat decor... Check out the shadowbox I put together of my grandma's bowling stuff :)

It's football season here and so my youngest boys are in all their glory... and my car constantly smells like week old sweaty t-shirts... NASTY!  The weather is changing and it seems we're rolling into fall... even though i'm not completely ready... the summer seemed to slip away from me!  I was at the gas station yesterday and they had PUMKIN REESES out!!!   It's too early for PUMPKINS!!!!  FOOEY!  Where'd the summer go???

These are my coffee cups... I don't drink much coffee... mostly tea... but these are my cups.  The snowman cup is the constant companion... in the morning the first thing i do is stumble to the microwave to heat a cup of water for my tea.  The other ones i usually just pour a cup of coffee in... although foghorn leghorn sometimes plays funny jokes on me and i end up with it on my shirt... either way i laugh.  Yesterday... I got a wild hair and decided to have my TEA in the smiley cup... dumb idea... friggin smiley is not microwave safe... which i quickly found out when i ended up with blisters across my palm.  I always knew smiley's were evil... deep down... i knew it.

About Me

  • Well, I thought I was a little old for this Xanga thing...but apparently there's a whole bunch of us closet groupies :) I enjoy growing my faith, family and finding creative ways to support and care for both my family and friends...I have 4 kids, 2 still at home. I also have a passion for giving and finding ways to improve other peoples lives. I have discovered that I enjoy tinkering around with old cars. More for the satisfaction of tearing something apart and figuring out how it goes together...sort of like an oversized puzzle. I'm also enjoying putting together a plan for customizing one of the rustbuckets I own...should be fun.
